SCULPTURE

My work examines the underlying resonance of childhood: limitlessness, inventiveness, mystery, imagination, adventure and possibility. I often use found objects and other materials to mutate the work into something a child might appropriate while playing make believe. For example: a hamper transforms into a child size grass-covered pulpit, a cupboard door into a tornado shelter, and giant wooden doll cut-outs become the stabilizing structure beneath a mattress, transforming it into a fort-like space. Play on innocence and odiousness intrigues me as does the sinister that intrinsically resides within the sweet.
